Car Shipping Across Canada – Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to ship a car across Canada?

1. How long does it take to ship a car across Canada?

Transit time depends on distance and route. For example:

  • Toronto to Vancouver: 7–15 days

  • Calgary to Montreal: 5–10 days
Delays may occur due to weather, road conditions, or carrier schedules. Transit times are estimated only and cannot be guaranteed, however our team does their best to move vehicles at their earliest.

2. What types of transport are available?

  • Open Transport – Most common and cost-effective; vehicles are shipped on open trailers.

  • Enclosed Transport – Offers protection from weather and road debris; ideal for luxury or classic cars.

  • Semi Enclosed - Is a shipping option that offers a middle ground between open and fully enclosed transport. Vehicles are transported on trailers that provide partial protection—typically with side panels or a soft tarp cover, but not fully sealed like enclosed carriers.

3. Is my car insured during transport?

Yes. All registered auto transport companies in Canada are required to carry insurance. Customers are encouraged to have their own insurance for their vehicle.

4. Can I pack personal items in my car?

Yes, you may transport your personal belongings along with the vehicle. Please ensure that all items are secured, below window levels and the front seats are empty.

5. What documents are needed to ship a car?

You’ll typically :

  • A valid government-issued ID to identify the identity of our customer authorizing the transport
  • Vehicle registration & insurance
  • Proof of ownership or authorization to ship
Bill Of Sale if vehicle is from an auction
  • Release ticket or Gate Pass for the vehicle.

6. Can I ship a non-running or damaged vehicle?

Yes, but it must be disclosed in advance. Special equipment may be needed, and additional fees may apply. Non-runners may require special equipment for loading, cargo securement and unloading the vehicles.

7. Do I need to be present at pickup or delivery?

Yes, or you can authorize someone to act on your behalf.

8. Can I track my vehicle during transport?

Tracking or updates are provided via phone/email.

9. Is door-to-door service available across Canada?

Yes, but access may be limited in some remote areas, residential areas or city centers. If the truck can’t reach your home, a nearby safe meeting point will be arranged or the nearest terminal accessible to the truck.
